Moving Opening Day Forward

Quick question. In my online league I like to live-sim a single game for Opening Day, kicking off the regular season with a big game to start the year. With the 2020 pre-covid schedule, Opening Day has all teams playing that first day, and manually moving around everything so only two teams are playing would result in nonsensical schedules for four of the teams (the need for one-game road trips).

I've tried moving Opening Day in the schedule generator to a different date, but it doesn't seem to do anything. However, in the Event Schedule, it does look like I can change the date of Opening Day there. Ideally I'd move it up a day to Wednesday so I can take one of the Thursday games and move it to Wednesday. Without changing to date of Opening Day, moving the game to Wednesday would result in the game not counting.

Would changing the date in the events editor allow me to do this? Are there unintended consequences?

You can change it in the events schedule but where you really need to change it is in "season start date" in options. That isn't the end of it though. The trick here lies with the schedule. Based on what I think you are trying to do you should be able to get away with manually editing a few dates since it seems you are talking about just the first few days of the season with a built in off day that you will burn. If you hit the button to generate a whole new schedule you will have consequences. This of course is if I'm understanding correctly what you are doing. Good luck.

In the "Season Start Date" in the options, the season is set to start on March 26. This did not line up with the events schedule (set to March 27) or the first day of games (March 27). This is probably because the league has a Thursday force start date.

In the schedule editor I can move a game to Wednesday, however, that game would not count to the regular season standings. I'm trying to move the date OOTP recognizes as the beginning of the season up so I can move a game to Wednesday without a hitch.

Moving the event in the editor should be fine. Important that it doesn't get skipped, so always move it to at least tomorrow (ie. Never to the same day as you currently are). Then you can move games on the schedule and it should be fine.

Thank you for the input! I'll edit the date in the editor now. We're still in the Preseason, I just wanted to get out ahead of this!
