Two-Way Memory Loss
I had a player in an online league, a legitimate two way prospect at RP/CF- ended up being just okay at both spots (and developing low work ethic, which I despise) but he played over 600 innings in LF & CF over the past two years grading well in ZR at both positions. Mostly was a platoon bat vs LHP and a mop-up swingman type in the bullpen.
I waived him in the offseason because he was out of options and an outspoken clubhouse cancer, then he got claimed by a guy who only used him as a pitcher (turned off the two-way player box) He hits waivers again just before roster expansion and I reclaimed him- turn on the two-way player box and his outfield ratings are totally zeroed out! Like he has never played the position before! I have not studied the position rating degeneration model but assume that without the innings at a spot, a player's rating gradually goes down- rust or whatever. That said, going from an experienced plus outfielder to completely green in less than a calendar year seems bizarre to me, even if the other team gave him zero consideration in the outfield, zeroing out his ratings seems like a bug rather than a feature! Uh, mostly just whining, but maybe Dev can look into position ratings being excised by the flip of the two-way switch for future versions.
