Injuries are.... painful

I would love to hear about some of the least timely injuries others have sustained in their ootp universes.

Here is mine. Playing as the 1976 Mets our season was cruising along. We were running away from the division. Dave Kingman was having An MVP type season but with about three weeks left he gets beaned and has a concussion. Then the losing starts. Nine in a row as we have no one to fill that void in our lineup. The Phillies are surging and as we enter the last 4 games of the season (against the Phillies) we are one game up on then for the division. In the opening game of the series our ace 19-9 Tom Terrific Seaver is going for us. He’s cruising along until ... he’s not. His arm hurts and has to be removed. We lose that game and the next game and now one back. Tom has a torn flexor tendon and now
Is our for 10 months. Of course I just signed him to a contract extension a month before! We did win our next game and now the season comes down to game 162. Damn you ootp!!!

After about 130 seasons played over the last 10 months, I'd had my fair share of devastating and ill-timed injuries. I had one stretch one season where I lost my top 3 SP's to the same torn flexor tendon over the course of 6 weeks.

The one that was the worst in overall terms, was my 5 star SP who was only 22 years old in his 2nd season in MLB. He had a career ending arm injury. That one sucked because I had counted on him for the next decade to front my rotation.

That is the story of my life. I blew a 6 game lead in September with the Cardinals by losing 11 straight games. I lost Wong, Flaherty, and Molina in a 2 game span and the wheels fell off.

Well silver lining is we won game 162 to win the division. Kingman returns in a week which is promising but no Seaver is a killer.

Seems a bit overboard but listen to the experts I guess.

I could be in the minority but I love injuries. I tend to build teams with lots of depth (rather than stars), and love using my whole 40 man roster. So I actually get frustrated watching decent minor leaguers not be used. Probably why Im always trading players once they hit 30.
