Jumping from OOTP9 to OOTP20
Since 2008 I was playing OOTP9 on my mac until upgrading the OS to Catalina sometime in 2019.
I started playing OOTP9 at season 1994 and played until 2079. I have expanded to 36 teams over the years. I had lots of fun and I was winning a lot (I must have win like over 25 World Series over that span). I figure that for the 10-11 years I played with this game, it was a good investment... Then OOTP9 became obsolete and would not run anymore. Then I bought OOTP20. Wow! what a change... Over the years I was following the upgrade of the game and was happy to see improvements every year. But when I started playing OOTP20, I realized that the game had evolved a lot but became complicated. I have to tell, I have not adapted yet, and I wonder if I ever will... The games is so complicated to play. So hard to trade. So hard to negotiate contracts. So hard to manage a team... This is not fun anymore. The time I played with OOTP9, I was winning a lot and I always wondered if I was good at it, or if the game was too easy. One thing is sure, if I don't win, I won't play anymore... You might suggest me to play with settings to make the game easier. I tried. So far, I could not really figure out the right conditions and I really miss my old games. |

Ah, settings for success. Try these.
Edit your market size to super humongus. That's not the actual setting though. I think its labeled "everything east of the Rockies". Then edit your fan interest to the max which is "obsessed". Set fan loyalty to max which is "until death do we part". Then look at what other teams are charging for tickets. Find the highest priced tickets and add at least 15% for your price. You'll have to play with this to find the actual ideal price. Anyway doing the above will give you piles of money. Spend it all. |
