FA wants to negotiate but then says not interested

I started to negotiate with a RFA before the end of the season but he was too expensive so after the season I started getting news items from him that he wanted to continue to negotiate. I had autoqualifier turned to ON

I made a little cap room so I went to offer him a contract but he says he's not interested. This is despite that fact i've now gotten 3 messages from him - July 25, Aug 10, Aug 25th and then Sept 10

Is this common behavior? Clearly something is off when he's saying he wants to negotiate but then the contract screen contradicts that.

edit: I got another message from player on Sept 25th. This time when I went to offer a contract, his text field was completely blank (instead of saying he isn't interested).
I was able to click on meet demand which did populate what I image would have been in the text field.

Can you upload the save? I'd like to see why exactly he's offering to negotiate when it sounds like he's in a state where he's not willing to.

I just checked before uploading and he still is willing to negotiate (for some reason Sept 25th he started negotiating again before that was when he wouldn't despite the news items) but his text box remains empty.

Only way to see his demands is to click on "meet demands".

I don't have a save from when he refused to negotiate despite the news items, but the empty text field is still an issue.

Odd, he's responding as if he's already accepted an offer, but there's no active offer present. We'll have to take a closer look at this to see exactly how that situation occurred, because the negotiation screen is contradicting the free agent centre, which shouldn't be possible.
