How to get runner on 2nd in extra innings?

Played my 1st . extra innings game and there was no runner on 2nd? How do I fix it? I never touched any options not to have this happen. Thanks !

Check to see if Modified Extra Innings is ON. You'll find the setting under League Settings --> Rules

But why would you want to do this? It corrupts the simplicity of the game with an arcade cheap fix. Last night the Bravos and Phils played a simply ridiculous extra inning game that was the lowest common denominator of errors, botched plays, awful pitching - all attributable to the “zombie runners” at 2B. Very pleased that OOTP allows me to eliminate this travesty, along with the childish three-batter rule, and of course the Little League seven-inning DH rule. Also the DH. Real baseball.

I don't mind the 3-batter rule, but I really dislike the zombie runner rule. It's a shame when you've got a real pitching duel for 9 innings and then, suddenly, the runs come cheap in the 10th, 11th, etc. Doesn't seem right to me.

My first game with the three-batter rule, I brought in my situational lefty for one hitter, then tried to park him at 1B while bringing in a RHP for one hitter. OOTP did not let me do that, which I gather means the new MLB rule would bar that. So I disabled it.

Recently, The Phils’ Harper got hit by Genesis Cabrera, who obviously did not intend it, and clearly had no clue where the next pitch was going (hit Didi Gregorius in the back). But the manager couldn’t pull Cabrera, because he hadn’t pitched to three guys. To me, that ‘s reason #1001 why this is a silly rule. It doesn’t speed up the game in any material way. Let the managers manage!

I also watched that game and while I did enjoy the mayhem I agree that this "little league" rule changes the entire dynamics of the game and along with the 3 batter rule and 7 inning double header is hurting the integrity of baseball. I can go along with these rules if they are only for the "pandemic" but not a second longer. Manfred must go!!

Because I want to play REAL baseball ! And "Real baseball starts extra innings with a runner on second base.

If you’re looking for real base ball, I trust that you’re refusing to buy the game until it gives us the option to ban this ridiculous overhand throwing motion, only count strikes when the batter swings and misses, not count balls at all, consider balls caught on the first bounce as outs, and play until 21 aces(“runs” as the plebs call them today) are scored rather this “innings” nonsense. Not to mention seven players per team. Real base ball.

Real "pandemic impacted" baseball sure if that makes you happy. The wonderful thing (one of them) about OOTP baseball is that we can play REAL BASEBALL from any year. Also I and many like me will be thrilled when this real DUMB baseball or Manfred corrupted baseball is changed back to the way the game has been played for many many years.

I certainly hope the extra-inning phantom runner rule is gone next year, but I’m not sure it will be. Owners seem to hate long extra inning games because they make their players tired and prone to injury without any financial benefit. Everything is money in today’s world.

Sadly true. The way baseball was played in the 1960's through th 90's was so much more interesting than it is nowadays, though I still love this game/sport...

And someone from the 1900s would say all this darnfangled hitting and homeruns isn't real baseball either.

Right? I think John McGraw was a particular critic of home runs for example.

Baseball has always and will always evolve.

When this rule is activated is it effective for the playoffs, or only for the regular season?

You can choose between Spring only, Spring + regular season, or all the Time.
