Or do you start over with each new release of the game?

Meaning if I send some $$ to upgrade my team (which also helps support the game), will I keep those players next year when OOTP 23 comes out?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am new to this game. My son says in MLB The Show Diamond Dynasty you keep your players from year to year.

Each OOTP version is a separate PT universe, which runs for just over 2 years before the servers are shut down. PT 21 is still running alongside PT 22; PT 20 was only recently shut down. You can keep playing your PT 22 team until about May 2023, after both OOTP 23 and OOTP 24 come out, but not forever.

Your son is lying, the show is just like any other ultimate team mode. New game, new team. Building it up is 90% of the fun anyway.
