Historic beards

Are there any existing modifications of the beard_frequency_default.txt file for historical eras? I'm starting in 1890 and looking to update the file; would prefer not to do it manually as I haven't researched beard styles of the era.

I think Questdog did one quite a while back but I couldn’t find a thread on it in a quick search. I may have a copy on a drive somewhere. If I find it I will upload it in this thread.

Thanks. To start with, here's a beard frequency file that sets all beard styles to 0. It's a starting point to be able to only turn on the specific styles you want.

Note that the No beard % in this file is set to 100.

For those uncertain of baseball's history, facial hair was very uncommon. In fact, until Reggie Jackson wore a mustache in 1971, no baseball player--not a single one--had sported any type of facial hair since Wally Schang in 1914. So, if you're playing fictional baseball between 1914 - 1971, just set No Beard % to 100 and leave it.

I'm trying to work on prior to 1914, where facial hair on baseball players was still pretty rare. Looking a pictures of 19th century ballplayers, moustaches were quite popular prior to 1890, but started to be less common during that decade. By 1900, clean shaven appears to be how the majority of ballplayers--and men in general--preferred to be. And then, after 1914, nothing until good ol' Reggie Jackson.
