Manager for Minor League Teams, am I doing this wrong?

I'm giving a stab at being a manager of a AAA minor league team. Should my role be to win games, develop players for the MLB franchise or both? I find it hard to keep up with roster changes (GM is run by the AI). My goal is to advance to a manager of a major league team but having some fun in the minor leagues at the same.

Win games. That's what they judge you on.

Yes, minor league managing is a really frustrating style of play with all the call ups and demotions they do. Also, and they might have fixed this now, but you often didn't end up with enough starting pitchers, or at least any rested ones.

If you're new to the game I'd advise you not to judge OOTP by what you see as a minor league manager. It's generally a lot more sensible than that.

All good advice, it's like a whole different mini-game. I only played one game like this, but it was a blast. I started at the bottom in rookie league and enjoyed seeing players at higher levels when I moved up. It was less enjoyable seeing the bums the AI would push down the ladder because they were terrible, or called them up for no reason forcing you to use them even though you already got sick of them at A ball. It's really a great game, as long as you can enjoy what it is.

Thanks for the feedback. I played a few more in-game weeks in my current save and just couldn't keep up. The AI must of pulled my best pitcher every week! It was a good learning experience.
