Baserunning
So I’m consistently one of the worst baserunning teams in my league. What does this mean? What am I doing in games that would this so? Every so often I’ll I look at the baserunning stats and the guys below 0, I’ll adjust their baserunning and/stealing. Is this what I should be doing? Or is there something more?

Check your Global Strategy. Maybe you have the baserunning slider cranked up.

If you're talking about overall baserunning value, you need to separate it into two parts. wSB (value from stolen bases) is fairly easy to optimize. If stealing is higher than speed, and both are high, crank it up. If speed is higher than stealing, or if they are both low, put the slider lower.
But non-stealing baserunning (UBR) is a bit tougher to analyze, because the stats don't tell you if you're being TOO aggressive, or not aggressive enough. Also, it can vary significantly from month to month or year to year just the same as anything else can. So checking box scores or replays (small sample) can have you arrive at a false conclusion as well. Would be cool if someone ran some structured experiments on this topic. Til then I'll probably keep my baserunning slider close to the middle for most (not super slow) players as it seems relatively low risk. |
