What are some non-traditional ways to play OOTP?
So I’ve started as the Pirates to do a full rebuild about a dozen times and it’s starting to get a little old. I’ve also tried historical games, but it always gets to the point where the rookie draft doesn’t generate anyone and I keep having to create fake draft classes, so it gets annoying.
Any creative ways applinked of playing you can suggest? I was thinking of creating a league where all the stadium fences are like 500 feet so the power/gap/contact ratings could spell out some crazy results. Idk. What do you think? It depends on what you enjoy, but I'm kicking around a couple of ideas right now since my current save is getting a little stale :
- Relegation setup - Manager only or GM but you don't mess with lineups, picthing staff, promotion/demotion at all - Playing as GM of a non-affiliated minor league team - Draft to glory : no trading or FA, just amateur draft and Rule 5 (probably very brutal) |

My buddy set up a "new MLB level league" to take on the current one. Kinda like the threat of the Continental League back in the day, but this one actually happens. Can't remember all the cities he chose, and how many teams, but I may try that sometime. I think he may combined the two leagues under one organization, so as to compete for free agents, and the draft. |

I'm playing a buddy from 1100 miles away in a play-by-upload league. We're both Commissioners, have teams in different leagues, and play out our game, zip, upload, and exchange the link to the uploaded file. Then it's download, play, and repeat. It's like the old chess-by-email in a way. We're having a ball.
