Historical Rookies On Wrong Teams

I have the option set to Automatically Import Historical Rookies. I thought this would historically assign them to their historical teams (I have amateur draft disabled). I also have Import & Maintain Real Minor Leagues turned on. Would this prevent players from going to their real teams?

Here's an example I just noticed:

In the real world, Fred Sherry debuted in 1911 with Washington. However, in my world, he signed a 1-year minor league contract with Detroit in 1910, so he's now on the Tigers in 1911, but not on their major league roster.

What am I doing wrong?

I assume you have use full minor leagues enabled. If so Sherry debuts in 1910 as a minor leaguer so any MLB team could potentially purchase his contract. With minors disabled Sherry will not debut until 1911 and be on Washington with draft disabled.

If you have minors enabled players that debuted with non affiliated minor league teams could end up on any MLB club. Ted Williams is an example. He will debut with San Diego of the PCL but likely be purchased almost immediately by an MLB organization. To get every player to appear on their actual mlb team you would have to disable minors or manually assign guys like Sherry and Williams to their real mlb team

Interesting. Is the option I have on (Import & Maintain Real Minor Leagues) the same thing as having full minor leagues enabled? I'm hesitant to turn it off now since the players are already getting on teams. I'm not sure where these players that have been signed minor league contracts are though. Sherry, for example, doesn't appear on the Tiger player development chart. Is he just in limbo somewhere?
