Another little question, this about depth charts ...

My depth chart has a 1.5-star goalie second and a 2-star goalie third. So there's a difference of opinion. Is the star rating what my scouts think and the depth chart what my coaches think?

I can answer half of that, but not sure about the other part.

Yes to the star rating being what your scouts think (as opposed to central scouting).

Best guess on the other part, it could have to do with potential rather than current ability, or as you say what the coaches think.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will stop by to clear that up for us.

The depth chart also considers the current roster situation - it'll give the players on the team's active roster/injured list a slight bonus to their ranking.

Thanks, Jeff. It's interesting ... I'm playing GM only in the QMJHL, and in the preseason my coach seems to be expressing a clear preference for Mr. 1.5. So I'll give him the backup netminder he wants and send Mr. 2.0 to Junior B, which is our "farm team."
