Top Prospects being released

Im playing as AA manager in 1966 for Pirates organization. I won the championship in 1965 and Bob Robertson won the Triple Crown.
In 1966 I noticed that Robertson was demoted to rookie ball. Im in June and went to see how he is doing and he was released by Pirates and signed with and Independent Team in NY-Penn Leauge (BC level).

The team is loaded with 4/5 star prospects that were all released by major league organizations. Team is currently 25-1.
Joe Coleman, Rollie Fingers, Nolan Ryan, George Stone, Dave Cash, Al Oliver, Bob Robertson, Johnny Bench, Bernie Carbo, Gene Tenace, Don Money, Amos Oits.
--3 were top Pirate prosepects.

All these players are young, had good/great years, yet were released.
I thought maybe it was a mass release, but only seems to be high rated guys.

Any clue why?
