Team Outlook

I noticed when hovering over a team name that the box of team info that appears includes "outlook" and it's set to either Rebuild, Balanced, or Win Now. What exactly does this mean, especially for non-human controlled teams? Is it having any effect on the management decisions and/or the performance of the teams? Also, OOTP gives us a way to manually change this on the "team settings page." Is there a way to change it in FHM? I can't seem to find a way

I ask because most of the teams in my league that are competing (and winning) titles and have some of the league's best players on their rosters are showing an outlook of "balanced" when they clearly should be trying to "win now." I also have some good teams that are showing "rebuild" as their outlook.

Rebuild: will try to acquire younger players with potential.
Win Now: will try to acquire good veterans who can help them immediately.
Balanced: no preference.

Those affect both how the teams value players in trades and free agency, as well as what type of trades they pursue. There's nothing to change in team settings because the status is only relevant to the AI's behaviour, it has no effect on a human-run team.

Thanks for the information on this. My question now is what drives the team outlook for AI teams? Is it related at all to the owner or GM attributes? Because in the league I'm playing with now, they seem completely random.

What does it mean then to see it on the popup for your human-run team? Is it just the AI/"the league's" feeling on what your team's outlook is?

Yeah, it's just getting the same evaluation that's made on the AI-run teams. Doesn't actually do anything if you're managing the team yourself.
