Player Cleared Waivers On Waivers?

I have two players that cleared waivers. When I try to drop them to the bottom of the page to remove them from the waiver status, it says "Player is not on waivers" yet they still show up under waivers.

Can I remove them from the waiver section after they cleared?

You have to assign them somewhere to move them from that section. So put them on your Triple A team and they will go from that section.

Waivers is not a roster. A player on waivers is still on a roster somewhere (MLB, AAA, DFA, etc...). You can move them around by dragging them from MLB, AAA, DFA, etc... but not waivers. Waivers is a status, not a roster.

It's OK that they cleared waivers, no one can claim him now. If you put a player on your active roster on waivers, he's still on your active roster. When he clears waivers, you can move to him AAA (if that was the intention). He'll still be listed under 'waivers' and to be honest, I'm not sure how long he'll be listed there (if it even matters). If you waived and DFA him. he is moved from whatever roster he is on and moved to DFA (and is also listed under waivers). DFA is a roster, waivers is not.

Hope this helps.

It would still be nice to be able to manually remove them from waiver status.

They do drop off eventually but I have not worked out the trigger yet. It seems they can stay with waiver status for a few weeks.

I am quite certain there used to be a pull-down action that would let you empty the Waiver section. It is no longer there, so guys who have cleared and been assigned already linger for no apparent reason.
Doh!

I have had some "waiver lingerers" as well. They clear, I assign them to the team they are going to and they just stay there. It says "CLEARED Waivers" next to them, but they don't leave and I can't seem to remove them

IIRC there is a period after a player has cleared waivers that he is considered as having recently cleared waivers and does not need to be passed through waivers again for the purposes of being included in a waiver trade or being outrighted to the minors. I don't recall exactly how long this lasts or what removes it, but it avoids players having to be placed on waivers multiple times in a week.

The waivers screen really needs to be re-designed to give the GM-Manager more information on what is going on with the players and where they are located.

I have players hanging out also as shown on the screenshots below.

Also, I cannot advance my game because of some DFA/Waiver issue that I can't figure out. The pop-up message should provide more detail on the problem, and also include a hyperlink that will take one to the player/screen where the problem can be resolved.

It is ridiculous that this issue is preventing me from advancing my game. Matt/Marcus, this should not be happening can you please fix these issues?

Exactly, it's no big deal that they are listed under waivers as 'cleared waivers'. It literally means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

You have a player 'Designated for assignment' (DFA). Look under DFA and he'll be there. You need to move him to MLB, a minor league roster, release him or trade him. DFA is LIKE a roster, waivers is not. Players listed under waivers are still on a roster (MLB, AAA, AA, DFA, etc...) This really has nothing to do with waivers.

1) You can DFA a player (which removes him from one roster and puts him in DFA)
2) You can waive a player, which leaves him on the roster but puts him on 'waivers'.
3) You can waive and DFA which does both #1 and #2.

I have 2 players with 0 time remaining on the DFA list as shown in the screenshot. Garcia and Handa. When I right-click on either player and select an option I am told that a the player has to clear Waivers first!!!

What was the intention? Moving him to minors? If he is out of options, he has to clear waivers first. If you DFA'd him and didn't put him on waivers until his time on DFA was expiring, then you'll have to put him back on you MLB roster, and then DFA him again. I don't know if it can be done the same day or not. When he clears waivers, then you can send him to the minors. In fact, OOTP doesn't require you DFA him as long as he clears waivers.

Another option is go into commissioner mode and edit them. I believe you can manipulate the DFA days that way. I might be wrong though. Hope this helps.

Thanks for trying to solve this issue.

If you look at the screenshot, I don't have the option to put them on the MLB roster. I wanted to put them on a minor league team, but that doesn't work either - look at the screenshot.

The only option for these 2 players that seems to work, is to release them.

You have to either release them or place them on the MLB roster. The reason you aren't seeing that option is probably because you don't have any open roster spots. If you open up a MLB roster spot by optioning a player, you can place them on your active roster which will reset their DFA time and can immediately waive and DFA them.

I'm guessing your 40 man roster is full. I had this happen to me a couple of times. I'd suggest trading both players for prospects. Worked for me. Take care.

Okay, don't bite the newb, I'm playing my first full season off OOTP. I waived a pitcher with the purpose of demoting him. He cleared waivers. I attempted to move him to AAA, I can't. So, I get the MLB contract thing, but when I DFA him, now it tells me he has to clear waivers first.

Sorry for the delayed reply - this just occurred in my online league and your question popped up in my research. Your problem appears to be an intermittent bug. Per this thread, the best option is to use the player editor to transact the AAA move.
