What MLB teams are you playing with?
Now that the patch has dropped, I have decided to use my local club, the Rockies, even though I am a Cubbies fan. Figured to give them a try.
For those of you playing in the MLB, which teams are you currently playing with? Figured that this might be some fun to see which teams are being used the most. |

I plan on using the Jays for my longterm save when I start it up (probably later this week?)

This year I am back to my Phillies; but I created managers for the Orioles and New Orleans Buccaneers (formally the Pittsburgh Pirates) based on friends who are huge fans. I handled the expansion draft picks for the Buffalo Wings and the Charlotte Stingers through all 35 rounds. In the past I have toggled back and forth between letting the AI make roster changes. As in letting AI make the cuts to 28 to start the season, then making some adjustments I prefer, and preventing the AI from changing that. But toggling AI control off means that injured guys are not put on the IL, slumping guys are not sent down, guys nailing it in AAA languish there. So I will periodically let the AI clean up those rosters. Not sure if I will set lineups for all 32 teams this year.

Going to go on a run with the Pirates. I am not digging the 2 Dominican and 2 Short season affiliates they have though. Having to fill 30 extra players in each of those orgs is annoying.

Mets as usual. Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment, this season it'll be a little bit better since Jake DeGrom is already on the IL so I won't have to deal with him getting injured during his first or second start in April. It'll be sometime in June when I say, "Dammit, every friggin year!" (if he survives a few rehab starts LOL)

Houston. And Brantley has a strikeout percent rate of 24.2.

Fictional for me but if I played MLB it would be the Reds, my adopted home town of 40 years before I retired to Florida.

I either start with the 1962 Houston Astros or the 1977 Toronto Blue Jays and play with one of the following variants:
Build through draft only - No Trades Build through Trades only, not using any of the players I drafted Stay under/above a set Team Salary Pitcher heavy/hitting light - Pitcher light/hitting heavy etc. Probably the same most of you do... |

Baltimore Orioles.
It’s like real life my hitting is terrible and my guys are striking out an alarming rate. I’m in June and waiting til after the draft to start moving guys from the minors and trading the last little bit of ML talent I have left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When the Reds were good and for quite some time, I'd sim a year and expand MLB to 32 and take over an expansion team from scratch.
Since OOTPXX, I've usually been playing as the Reds. I'm not so sure about this now in 23 because I'm angry at ownership.

I’m a Giants player. It’s a bit of a challenge this season because financials are maxed, but nobody on the Giants outside of Crawford, Webb, and Rodon really seem to perform up to the levels they do irl. Which makes sense, really. Belt is a strange outlier in that his ratings are great but his performance never matches his ratings. But, they’re an old, expensive team, with a…. middling, to be nice… farm system. Freeing up money for proper dev and scouting budgets while maintaining fan interest is difficult this OOTP season (seems like EVERY player is “Very Popular” or better haha). So far it has been enjoyable.

The Cubs. Lot's of room for improvement and the budget to address it.

I've started with the Reds.
Usually try a few different teams before getting into my 'keeper' saves with the Blue Jays and one other team around mid-summer. I'm definitely going to do a Seattle start up at some point. Probably the A's and maybe Baltimore, too. |

The issue that irked me about the latest CBA, is that the union should have followed in the tracks of the NHL and had a minimum salary spend for all teams. That would force the bottom feeders of the league to actually spend some money, and at least put a semi-competitive team on the field for their fans to watch. Instead, the knuckleheads were only worried about the top half of the league teams being able to spend more before the luxury tax kicked in. |
