Video series on setting up a fictional league

I've started a video series on YouTube showing the process I use for creating fictional leagues. I currently run a fictional/historical league (Figment League Baseball, link in my sig) that's in it's 67th season (the first 50 were solo, and we're currently entering our 17th season as an online league).

I'll cover the basics and also in-depth stuff like editing the data files to have custom cities, populations, names, schools, etc.

If you're interested in watching, here's the link:

OOTP Baseball 23 - Creating a fictional league for solo or online play - part 1

I'll update this thread with future videos in the series. If you have questions or feedback, feel free to post it here. I hope anyone looking to do fictional leagues finds it informative - I love fictional play & hope you will too!

Thanks to all who've watched!

I just posted the second video - this one is all about the files you need to edit to really customize the name set, cities, countries, schools and so forth:

Thanks for taking the time and effort in creating your new videos.

I've been playing OOTP since OOTP9 and I've been playing and creating fictional leagues in the 1920's era, since OOTP11, which is my favorite part of OOTP.

I feel it is alot more enjoyable as you have no idea ahead of time who the Babe Ruth's and Ted Williams' are so it prevents you from "cherry picking" future HOF'ers.

I found it interesting that I have/had many of the same viewpoints and ideas in my league as yours; we just got there following different paths.

I don't own 23 yet however, I am not excited to see and hear about the new changes in the name and word files as I was barely able to edit the '22 version with great help and guidance from joefromchicago. The '23 version files look super complex to me and I am sure that I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Can't wait to see your future videos especially how you edit your names, injury files, etc so everything is era appropriate and as realistic as possible.

Thanks Again

Just posted a 4th video. This one's on editing the XML files. Caveat here is that because XML is really just a text file, there are a lot of ways to edit them - what I show is simply how I do it (using Notepad++ - which is free - and Microsoft Excel - which is not, though free alternatives do exist).

Hope you guys find it useful!
