Historical Transactions Override
Hi.
I have been playing the OOTP games for several years now and I have to say that they are great. The one element that I have wished that could be added is the option to override historical transactions when doing a long term historical simulation. For example, let’s say I want to play a Yankees simulation starting in 1982. The Yankees made some terrible trades during the 80’s. i.e trading Fred McGriff, Doug Drabek, etc. If there was a historical transactions override where you could set the simulator to ignore or replace a trade with another one. I know people say that, the easy fix, would be just to run a simulation without the historical transactions. But doing that would create a completely different league as generally speaking the only thing that would have needed to be changed was a few transactions. Just something maybe the development team could consider incorporating in the future. I think it would add significant enjoyment to the sim. |

My suggestion certainly isn't rocket science and is probably something you've already considered... If you're not talking 100's transactions that you'd like to nullify, then do the following:
1) Note the date of the transaction (for example, 11/26/86 for Drabek). 2) When you get to that date, manually undo the transaction. So you'd go into the editor and put Drabek back onto the Yankees. 3) Depending upon how detailed you want to get, you could also a) go into his History panel and remove the transaction line (the transaction entry here is merely informational; doesn't matter if you leave it or not), and/or b) further edit the transaction itself by, for example, leaving Rhoden on the Pirates (by editing his record, just as you would do for Drabek's in #2 above). In the above keep in mind, though, that although it would keep Drabek on the Yankees through the 1992 season, he will still sign with Houston on 12/1/92 unless you also intervened manually on that date, too. Again, this would work fine if the total number of transactions (that you want to override) isn't overwhelming. |
