No draft in historical game

Playing a historical game with some player rating presave and after one season when i get to the draft it don't happen.

I been encountering this issue a few times specially if i edit stats of players/staff.

To be honest, I kind of wish that would happen in my game. I'm trying to maintain historically accurate rosters and the draft just makes extra work!

There is an option that players go to their original teams!

I know, it's just it can't be reverted once you start a save.

If you can point out what might be causing it i can then avoid editing certain parts to prevent it. Thanks again Jeff

edit: just tried another run with same quickstart but different team and same problem, no draft the following year

Ah, it's from a quickstart, can you upload that? I think that may be the source of the problem, we can't get it to repeat in our tests.

Yeah its from quick start, usually i start a game as real GM, do the edits i like, save as quick start then start the game with a made up GM in challenge mod.

I will email the quickstart, can that Columbus save be fixed?

Jeff i run a few tests and stumbled on this:

Start game in historical mode with team or no team.
Sim a season to the following July 1st
It shows the date for entry draft.
Retire and add new GM either in challenge or not
Draft disappears.

Try this process see if it happens to you. No editing was done of any sort!

Is that with that quickstart or just a regular start? I'm not losing the draft when I try it with a normal 2005 start - I retire, create a new GM, and there's still a lottery and a draft on July 2-3 2006.

That was regular historical game start.

I still have the same issue with my quick start aswell.

In the original save, it looks like it won't be possible to restore the draft in the current season, but the drafts will return to normal in the following years.

With the quickstart, we haven't been able to replicate the missing draft at all. Every game I create with it has a normal draft after the first season, even if I do the retirement-new GM step you mentioned on July 1. So it doesn't look like the problem is related to the quickstart, but we've had no luck determining what caused it to disappear.
