Question Transition from One Year to the Next

Greetings Experienced Players. Thanks for keeping this game alive. Question from someone playing this game again since the early 2000's. I love what's happening.

What happens with the existing players, and team, both inside and outside of Perfect Team, when they release the next version - OOTPB24? Can we expect that around Springtime 2023, when the new rosters come out for the MLB teams?

Looking forward to what you share. Thank you.

There will be a new Perfect Team that everyone starts from scratch and which will have the updated 2022 players (and also a whole host of new historicals) but you can continue to run your existing team for usually 2 more years before they shut those servers down.

Thank you. As I understand you are only talking about Perfect Team. My underlying OOTP will simply update with a new for the 2023 players if I buy the new version, and my achievements in Steam will continue to develop.

Correct; but “will simply update” may be overstating it. The process to export ongoing sims from 23 and import to 24 should be straightforward, as it has been in the past. However, in past years there have been problems with that “transfer”, particularly in the midst of a season. (Much more of a concern for those of us who plod along managing each of our chosen team’s games, than for those who operate as Commissioner or GM and sim rapidly through seasons, and thus can readily land in the offseason before a “transfer”.). Many with more experience than me would caution you to backup the league in the present version, before importing it to the new version, just in case something goes awry.

If, on the other hand, you are only concerned about updated stats and rosters, yes, of course, the new version will be complete through the end of the 2022 Season. As I did for many years with APBA cards, I can’t wait to see how my favorite players are rated by OOTP.
