Giveaways vs Takeaways

Have been enjoying the game for many years and feel I have a pretty good handle on how I enjoy putting a team together. But this one is tricky ...

For example, I have a player Batherson, who while always performs as expected consistently gives the puck away 4 times as much as he takes the puck away. I have tried changing roles and tactics to no avail. I'm not sure what the driver of this is and it does not seem to hurt his +/- or corsi ratings. It tends to be unique to my style of play as he is not the only one, yet I consistently do well and usually in the top of the league in GAA. So while our folks love to give the puck away, it does not seem to hurt us.

Thoughts appreciated ?

There is a huge discrepancy in GvA/TkA statistics for your team versus the rest of the league by default because the league settings are set to simulate your games using the 2D engine and the rest of the league games will be simulated using the classic engine which results in different statistics in these two categories, noticeably so.

I would go to the settings menu and choose either 'all games classic' or 'all games 2D' and these numbers should normalize relative to the rest of the league over the course of a month or so.

I'm so happy this topic popped up because I was very confused earlier. If I could ask you which one is more realistic stats wise?

I don't really have enough of a bank of evidence (unlike I'm sure the dev's who created and tested both engines) to say anything for certain but I think going with intuition I would lean towards the newer engine which would be the 2D one.

It does work, thanks for the tip, I restarted and am now 4th in takeaways (all my players are 12+ in defensive positions), and 18th in give aways. But I am not scoring as much as a result haha
