Stupid Owner

I realize I am behind the times in playing 23, but I'm committed to my dynasty.

It's 2045, I've won 100+ games for four consecutive seasons. No World Series title, unfortunately. My owner is ready to fire me.

His biggest beef? I have not parted ways with "overpaid veteran" Jeremy Luke. Now, Luke is 35. He certainly is a veteran. However, his stats for the past three years:

2043: 51 home runs, 138 RBI (both led league). .284 batting average, .365 OBP, .598 SLG. 160 OPS, 6.4 WAR. Won the MVP.

2044: 54 HR, 149 RBI (both led league). .299/.397/.628. Led league in SLG and OPS. 173 OPS+, 7.5 WAR. Won the MVP.

2045: 60 HR, 145 RBI (both led league). .338/.441/.684. Won the triple crown, led the league in OBP/SLG/OPS. 194 OPS+, 8.8 WAR. MVP voting has not happened yet.

In 2043 he made $21,150,000. In 2044 he made $19,550,000. In 2045 he made $18,600,000. He is the 5th highest paid player on my team.

I have him for one more year at $18,600,000, and then three at $8,500,000 with the third being a vesting option.

"Why is Jeremy Luke still on the roster? I thought I told you I wanted him gone. It's fine to have loyalty, but sometimes you need to cut ties to improve."

Personality: Jeremy is never too up, never too down.
Extremely popular both locally and nationally.

What the heck are we doing here? Has this improved for OOTP24?

Sorry for back to back posts but I just read the next email. In the goals email, I am to cut payroll from $176,325,000 to $160,000,000.

The next email, the budget:

"You will have $258,000,000 available for the total team expenses. Given your current spending on staff and other costs, this should allow you a team payroll of around $210,000,000."

C'mon.

OOTP has the model for an erratic and irrational owner on the money!
