Building a Nation in OOTP - East Timor

(It's been a while since I last posted on here, however I've started to regain interest in OOTP after getting bored with playing Football Manager. I wanted to do this idea for a while, so let's see how it goes!)

Asia has a lot of really good baseball nations, including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Then there are the average nations, PR China, Phillippenes, and Israel. Then, their are some nations you might not even recognize. East Timor is probably in the last category. East Timor (or Timor-Leste) has no real baseball history to speak of. I'm not even sure if they have a national team to be honest. However, I wanted to do a save where I take a small nation to glory, and East Timor fit the bill. They have seemingly no baseball history, and play in a very competitive continent. So, let's find out if I can bring glory to this minnow nation!

So, how am I going to do this? Well, I will set their "Baseball Quality" to Excellent, however won't put them as part of any league. I also will not be making players generate in any league. This means that while we'll have a great rating, it'll take a while to be able to use it.

Anyway, let's see if I can win the WBC with East Timor!

We have our first player in nation history! SP Bernaldyn Montargil as been generated to the Guardians International Complex. Let's see if we can get any other players next year.

Whoa love the idea, my favorite part of OOTP has always been the fact we can add players from anywhere in the world creating vast fictional baseball worlds. East Timor is a fun idea, will follow.

Thank you! I also like that about OOTP. I'm considering adding an East Timorian league once there's enough players from East Timor in the MLB.

We got three players, only two of them seem good in my opinion though.

We made it in to our first major tournament, that being the 2027 Asian Baseball Cup. We enter a group with Japan, Russia and Kazakhstan. I think we're able to make the knockouts, as Russia only have one player who isn't that good (that being Enrike Sevilya).

As you would expect, we got destroyed by Japan in the next game.

Well, that sucks. We end the Asian Cup 0-3, with us barely losing to both Kazakhstan and Russia.

South Korea would defeat Japan to win the Asian Cup of 2027

We sadly didn't qualify for the WBC, so nothing to really discuss here

Dominican Republic would end up defeating Taiwan 5-3 to win the World Baseball Classic

Allberto Campilho as made it up to the majors, playing for the Columbus Nuggets (originally the Pittsburgh Pirates) This is a massive step for baseball in East Timor

We get handed a group with South Korea, Iran, and Indonesia. South Korea being the champions of last tournament will certainly not help anything, as they'll be hungry for another title.

We ended up barely winning 1-0 after Marcox Anaia scored in the bottom of the 9th. This is our first ever win in Asian Cup history.

We only barely lost this one, which definietly shocked me for sure. Not as bad as I expected, honestly.

After a long, grueling 16 inning game vs Iran... we came out victorius!

Yeah, this sucked. A literal no-hitter as East Timor looked completely out of their comfort zone. 0-3 loss, moving on

Japan defeated North Korea 24 TO 5!!!!! An absolute embarasment for North Korea, who decided to broadcast the game in hopes it would at least be close. Alas, no.
