Best of League possible ?

I'm trying to figure out a way to bring in 8 teams from different years and have them play each other.

I figured out how to import historical teams, but there is no way I have found to start a league with a blank slate.

Every option I have tried either loads real teams and players or fictional. And when I delete those teams, the players remain. So when I import my specified teams, the players originally in the league end up on my imported teams.

Is there a way to start with a blank league and bring in teams ?
Or is there a way to delete the players along with the teams I don't want?

Don't have it in front of me, but I believe there's a retire all players button in teh league edit screens somewhere that you can use on july 1st.
