AHL not generating schedules

In an attempt to make the AHL season more realistic/spread out instead of ending in mid-March, I tried to add more games onto the schedule (82), but has left me with a blank schedule. I cannot sim past July 1 as a result of this.

Did you create new schedules from within the game?

Yes, I tried re-generating schedules in game and it did not work.

I'm getting a working schedule for the AHL if I just change the number of games to 82 and re-generate. Did you change any of the other schedule setttings?

I only adjusted the amount of interconference and interdivision games to the max amount (10). I've done this in different saves and has worked just fine.

That's why. There are, depending on the conference, 15-17 teams in the other conference and 7-10 in the other division. 10 each would require a schedule between 220 and 270 games long, and that's breaking the autoscheduler. Lower the amount of inter-conference and inter-division games to a number that will produce a result below the schedule length, e.g. 2 inter-division and 1 inter-conference.

This seems to have worked. Is there a way to have the season start on a certain date for the AHL?
