Lightbulb Game looking blurry or incorrectly scaled?

Nowadays, with various different display resolutions and related OS settings, it can happen that OOTP by default runs in a non-native resolution and looks weirdly blurry or scaled wrong. For this, you can try the following:

PC Windows
1. Locate the OOTP 24 shortcut (or the OOTP24.exe)
2. Right-click it, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab and toggle the setting for high DPI scaling.
3. Start the game.

The same may also work if you do it on your Steam client shortcut in case you use the Steam version of OOTP.

Another possible solution is to set the Windows interface scaling to 100% (or some other setting) prior to starting OOTP:
1. Open Windows Settings
2. Click on System
3. Click on Display
4. Under the "Scale and layout" section, use the drop-down menu and select the scale settings that suit your needs. Options available include 100, 125, 150, and 175 percent.

macOS
1. Go to wherever the app OOTP is located, most likely in the Applications folder.
2. Right-click on the app icon, and select “Get Info” to bring forth the information dialog box for the app.
3. When the Get Info dialog box opens, you should see an option that says “Open in Low Resolution.” What you need to do here is checkmark the box next to the option.
4. Close the Get Info dialog box after you have checked the option.
5. Start the game

How can I make this change in Steam on Mac? OOTP24 is not in the Applications folder.

I found something similar in /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Out of the Park Baseball 24/OOTP Baseball 24.app.

However, when opening the "Get Info" dialog box, there's no "Open in Low Resolution" checkbox.

At the bottom of the start screen, is "Settings". There are some display options in there, I think. Don't have it in front of me but in the interest of a speedy reply, I'd first check there if it were me.

No luck here.

I found an old reddit post that suggested running this command in a terminal window to get it to open in low-res mode for the Steam version:

open "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Out of the Park Baseball 24/OOTP Baseball 24.app" --args -AppleMagnifiedMode YES

However, text is still fuzzy, not sharp like everything else on my 4k display.

Playing on Mac, installed from Steam.

The "Open in Low Resolution" box is already checked, and in fact cannot be unchecked. Messing with resolution settings does not allow me to uncheck the box.

All in game text is fuzzy and blurry.

Just tried the following and it seems to have helped, but still isn't perfect:

In the Terminal, run:
open "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Out of the Park Baseball 24/OOTP Baseball 24.app" --args -AppleMagnifiedMode NO

I have this problem as well, 2022 M1 MacBook Pro. I had the same issue with OOTP23 too, I was hoping at some point it would be fixed. No matter what resolution I select or options, the screen becomes unfocused and briefly blurry, mostly noticeable on the fonts. It's not game breaking, but it gets distracting after a while...

Some of the textures may be a bigger undertaking, but the fonts at the very least need to be able to scale for high-DPI displays. I'm a sucker for sharp text & nice typography, I'd really love for my favorite text-heavy game to have sharp text!

I have an M1 MacBook Pro and things look okay for me. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing? I do use a utility to switch my screen resolution to 2560x1600 before playing OOTP. Maybe that helps?

Also, when I click "Get Info" I don't have an option regarding opening in low resolution.

Also having the same blurry challenge.

On Ventura 13.2.1, there is also no option for low res mode. Can anything be done in console?

Markus - any suggestion for Linux users? Have tried all available 16:9 screen resolutions, tried all the game setting fonts, used the OS tools to scale up windows at hi-res. OOTP 24 is barely readable at any res other than 1280x720. This requires that I reset the machine res every time before playing OOTP. Usually run the machine at 2560x1440 for all other uses besides OOTP. Seems like a dpi scaling problem, as changing font size has no effect when using hi-res.

Are there any updates to this? Just bought the game for my M1 Macbook Pro on Ventura and the font is blurry. There is no "Open in Low Resolution", but I have tried opening with AppleMagnifiedMode on and off through the terminal but it's still blurry.

Can you post a screen shot of what blurry is? Also what are your display settings?

Looks like I was confused about what resolution my laptop was. Changed it to 1800x1169 in system pref -> display and manually set that in OOTP and it looks much better now.
