Puzzled

As much as I love this game, I'm wondering why they keep trying to reinvent the wheel or gild the lily, often with puzzling, counterproductive results.

Some of these "refinements" or "enhancements" have met with derision or confusion, based on the comments I've seen. Such as mine about the Game Options taking up the space that used to tell us what our hitters have done against that day's starting pitcher. Options that are already available elsewhere. No wonder there are so many "patches" (a euphemism for "fixing unnecessary stuff we really screwed up"). To me, the new rosters and some 3D improvements would suffice each year. But apparently they wouldn't provide enough selling points.

In the words of Leonardo da Vinci: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

I very much agree. After playing several versions it's like a new learning curve on the simplest of options.
