Ratings Unrealistic
How the heck does OOTP give Shota Imanaga an overall rating of 25??? The guy is having a great season in real life but is 2-7 with an ERA of 6.81 in my 2024 season after 13 starts. For comparison, Tarik Skubal, in real life has an ERA of 1.97 and an overall rating of 30, yet his ERA in my season is 2.21.
I keep updating ratings to match real life stats but for some reason OOTP is not a fan of Imanaga. Kind of kills the immersion. I'll have to stick my cards & dice games for realism. |

Are you playing with the Opening Day rosters (i.e. from before any 2024 stats were accumulated) or are you using Live Start?
What Cards & Dice game has a 2024 set available that includes updates based on the performance during the 2024 season? |

I am using opening day rosters and update player ratings using live stats. I'm not aware of any C&D games with 2024 stats. I just said I will stick to my C&D games for realistic stats - replaying seasons with Strat-O-Matic. |

Are you on the most recent version? They look fine in standard right off the bat:
Here's post update, but still first day of sim: Assuming you're not on the latest version, you'll want to download it here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=355802 |

Well, you're correct. I was not on the current version. For some reason, I never got the popup window indicating a new version was available.
Thank you! |

Thing is, you can find glitches in the ratings of all players if you take time to look for them. Riddle me how Bobby Witt, Jr. currently has 7 triples for the KCRoyals in 282 ABs, but in OOTP25 is projected for 2 the entire season. Even his future expected talent shows him estimated at 2 triples per season. This for a player who hasnÂ’t yet reached his prime, had 6 triples as a rookie, a league leading 11 last season and already 7 in 282 ABs in 2024. The fastest player in MLB. Simply makes no sense. And the model has his expected HRs (20) and doubles (38) right on what his real stats rate is in 2024. So whatÂ’s with the triples? Again, it makes no sense. In other words, OOTP25 is not perfect by any means.

Livestart does show two though, which is weird, but the gap power is actually higher I think what the neutralized stats doesn't take into account is his speed. The triple ratio is 0 in the standard, which means his speed, which is quite high, will determine his triples. In the livestart its .057, which I think will take triples away from him. Have you tried simming out a year to see how many triples he gets? Here's one of my sims I started a few days ago: My guess is the neutralized stats aren't going to give the true picture. The speed and gap is more important. 2028 was the first season he dropped below 2 triples, and he led with 8 in '25. This version has a 5 expected for triples and a 0 3B ratio, which in game has the expected .130 based on his speed. |
