Players staying in game after ejection

Every time I create a custom game, when a fight breaks out after a HBP, it as always informs me that so-and-so has been ejected, yet they still stay in the game. It doesn't go to the roster/lineup screen, it stays on the in-game screen, cuz that player who's supposed to be gone is still there. For the life of me, in settings I can't figure out how to right this. What am I doing wrong?

Players and team tab. Do you have suspensions enabled? On left side near top.

Thanks, but yes of course I have suspensions enabled. I don't know, it might be a bug in my download of the game.

Players stay in lineup until substituted for. But you should be stuck in substitution screen until you do. Or are you able to play with then in the lineup

That's the thing, is that the in-game text says, after the players charge the mound animation, that so-and-so has been ejected- but then it doesn't go the substitution screen, it stays on the in-game/field screen, and the quarreling players are still there, not ejected. I don't know...
