New to Designing for OOTP
Hi, all! I've dipped into the OOTP world for the first time and I'm excited! In real life, I build highly detailed 3d models of stadiums with construction documents and I'd like to contribute to the OOTP community. The question I have is; how detailed should a model for OOTP be? From what I've seen, I'd only really need to focus on the inside of the stadium as that's what most people see anyways? Coming from a background of building stadiums down to the very inch, I was curious if for this, I'd just have to make "dumbed down" versions. My main projects are Minute Maid Park and the Astrodome as I own blueprints and construction documents to both. I'm always open to. advice and I look forward to being part of the community!

I'll look forward to seeing any work you'd care to share with us. Take a look at what's been posted as a guide for level of detail. From basic to work of art, I personally appreciate and use them all.

I can’t speak for newer versions, I still play 21. You can make stadiums as detailed as you want, but most of the detail won’t be seen. YMMV though.

I agree with Ty Cobb. I like to create fictional leagues and I really appreciate when modders use the textures folder for advertising, team branding, scoreboards, home plate logos, etc. I use the stadiums and edit the images so I can use local advertising and team branding. Poke around this forum and find some inspiration.

Thank you everyone for the help and kind words! Those links were very helpful and the tutorial series was very much what I needed to get a better idea on what to do. Below is my work on Minute Maid Park (or in this case Enron Field circa 2000). It's very early in development but wanted to show it off for any feedback. Textures, signs, crowds, etc will come later.

One thing I will say is that slopes are not really well-represented in OOTP. Case in point being Tal's Hill; the outfielders will cut through the bottom edge of the hill.

Welcome!
Your contributions will be well received! If there is anything you can do to move the shadow creation along it would be very appreciated.
