Historical Mode - 1916-17

First, thank you so much for this opportunity to experience the history of North American hockey in game mode. I became the head coach of the Canadiens at the very beginning of the NHA and became an seven-time champion with legendary hockey players.

I've more or less figured out how to form links, how to set up tactics, training, what attributes to pay attention to, and so on.

However, a few organizational issues have piled up.

1. Every season (starting with the second season) there is an announcement at the beginning that the NHA is moving to a five field player game. But in the game everything still happens with rovers. Up until the current 1916-17 season. I don't know, maybe with the advent of the NHL the league will move to five man infield, but so far it hasn't happened.

2- Also, as of some season, the rule changes state that the Stanley Cup will be played among the winners of the NHA and PCHA to three wins. That has not happened once. It's still a tweener within the NHA.

3. But the most important thing that was not at all unclear to me in the 1916-17 season was that the number of dressed players became 20 (it used to be 14). Ok, there is an opportunity to create additional links, I thought. But! The number of players in the active roster is still 17. Either I don't understand something, or there is a bug somewhere. At the same time, the game continues in the format of six field players, and there is no point in creating a third (defensive) link - hockey players in it, as far as I can understand, will still be used as rovers. And it is technically impossible to create 20 dressed players if there can only be 17 in the roster.

And this affects many things - very much on the transfer policy. Once again: maybe it's me who doesn't understand something somewhere. And would be very happy with feedback.

Championship playoff loss on a shootout....

Assembled three trio of forwards, two pairs of defensemen, from the reserves and the garbage that remained free agents. Fallen behind Quebec in the regular season, tied on points in the last round.

Playoffs of two games on aggregate goals. The first game was soundly defeated by a score of 1-6. The second game was a 7-2 win. Overtime didn't make a difference.

I didn't even think there would be a shootout after overtime. Another overtime... Replay... But the shootout. The weakest player on the roster came out and didn't score. Quebec's Joe Malone came out and scored. Quebec is the champion.

Shootouts in 1916, how?))))))) It's not even in the league notes. If I'd have known, I'd have put Lalonde in. Okay. Great game, great emotions. I want more historical realism)

I'll write here. What's the difference in historical mode? There are no secondary assists when you simulate the game (1), but when you play they are (2). As I understand it, my opponents don’t have them too unless I play the game.
