Improvements to Bullpen
Every year in my offline save, I drop the RP fatigue coefficient by about 0.250 points... otherwise, the CPU will throw out relievers for 2 or 3 innings at a time seemingly irregardless of what roles I have them in, and often they will get shelled in the end as they begin to tire... the main thing I would love to see in the game is an innings limit player strategy option, where you could distinguish between guys you wanted either to be 1-inning or multi-inning relievers.
I think generally the way the bullpen behaves in OOTP feels like the least realistic aspect of the game: the CPU struggles to distinguish between starters and relievers, making reliever contracts unrealistic in both directions; the way fatigue is set up by default allows low-stamina relievers to pitch multiple innings with relative frequency; over time in an offline save, there will be fewer high-stuff relievers, in my opinion making the actual construction of a bullpen even more unpredictable than it would be in real life. All of these points I've heard echoed by other players in the forums or in my online save. Some suggestions: - Setting to set innings limits for relief pitchers - Relievers could tire more quickly in-game, without becoming more tired between appearances. - Address CPU ability to distinguish between starters and relievers - Address the way pitchers are generated to more accurately reflect MLB. On a side note, the simplest fix would be to allow the coefficient settings to be locked year to year. Then at least for those of us who change these settings every season in our offline saves, we would be able to just set it up how we like and either leave it be or tinker over time. If anyone else has similar feelings, additional comments about the bullpen, feel free to add on to the thread... THank you! |
