Starters Giving up too many Homeruns
I know this is a small sample size. I am only 16 games into the season. Four of my 5 (6*) starting pitchers are giving up home runs in large numbers. Is there anything I can do? They all have excellent ratings, too.
Whitney is replacing Miranda in the rotation.

Is this some type of extreme league or are you running "normal" LT's and LTM's? Looking at those P's some are striking out 13 of a possible 15 outs, and those guys aren't outliers. Looks like instead of the "three true outcomes" you are running a league of "two true outcomes".

Hey I noticed the same thing in my league, not sure if it has to do with the latest patch. I am using autocalc with 2023 stats and settings. My entire rotation was getting absolutely shelled the first 2 months, then they did a complete 180, it was very strange. I wonder if autocalc is being too aggressive in the early parts of the season? Anecdotally, I have noticed large swings and outliers in the early parts of the season.

Autocalc doesn't apply to any specific portion of a season. It is a one time calculation to adjust modifiers. So, unless the modifiers are getting changed somehow during the season they wouldn't be a factor in early season vs. later season results.

Fair, thanks for clarifying rain king. I'm still a little baffled by seeing players and teams underperform for long stretches, then over perform and regress to the mean. Coaching/chemistry influence perhaps?

Some background the league started in the 2019 season, it is now 2053. I do not sim games. This year is the first time I used auto calc. Could that be the issue? My offense is in the middle of the pack in home runs. 13th out of 20 teams in AL.
Also it looks like it is a league-wide issue. I should have checked that first.

Yeah, auto-calc would have changed your modifiers.
If you do that every year it keeps the stats in alignment around your League Totals, but if you haven't been using that option for quite some time then your average league stats have probably slid away from being aligned with the averages outlined in your League Totals. The Auto-Calc process will have adjusted your modifiers, putting things back in line with those League Totals which could potentially be a dramatic difference. This is possible but, you can also change settings to change the power of, at least, coach cohesion impact under Global Settings just above owner goals on the left hand side of the page. I believe normal is the default setting.
I mean, this could be what's going on or at least maybe a part of it? Maybe your players were unhappy, had lower morale, and started to win some games and it bumped things up? I for sure would not rule it out but it is hard to tell. |
