Player Value
Why doesn't my 25-yo 3.5 star/4star potential LF have any trade value? He's on league min w/ 1+ service years, has 122 OPS+ and 3.1 WAR in 165 games. 70 defense in LF, 65 in RF. Sparkplug personality w/ high work ethic and adaptability.
Multiple win now teams w/ cap room have red or yellow in RF and LF (Dbacks yellow in both, Cubs red in LF yellow in RF, Angels yellow in LF, Brewers yellow in both, Mets red in RF, Phillies yellow in LF, Giants yellow in both, Cardinals yellow in both) but I can't get even a half star prospect or 20th round pick from any team. They're asking me to give up like 3 star prospects + this guy to get anything at all. |

Given that he is affordable with his league minimum contract, you will most likely find answers in your trading difficulty settings and trade preference settings (as in how high prospects are valued).

Prospect vs vet is halfway and the difficulty's max, but that's never made this much of an impact. I'm usually able to find solid deals but there doesn't seem to be any.

I see. Max difficulty is too max and too difficult for my personal taste, so I stopped trying to make things that hard for myself 5-6 years ago.
On your situation - here is a wild guess, I could be way off base here. Could it be that the vast majority of AI managers in your save prefer prospects way much over vets? Can you look at their profiles and see if there is a definite imbalance in this regard? |
