Historical Fix Sugestions

I have two historical league fix suggestions.

1.Have an option to draft the players when begining a new league rather than have them already assigned. Same for the coaches. For example, starting the 1977 season the Seattle Mariners roster is already populated with players. Samr with coaches. I'd rather be able to select and draft my own players and coaches.

2. When starting a new historical leage the regular season begins the next day with games. There is no time to make trades or change coaches before the season begins. Again, using the 1977 Mariners as an example the season immediately begins. Allow at least a week to make trades and make changes before the season begins.

Thank you

1.) This is possible. After starting your 1977 season, you can select the option to release all players and have a "Fantasy draft". This option is on the left side under League Settings --> Functions.

2.) I've seen other suggest this as well. Hopefully it is something they can implement.

If you mean you want to do the expansion draft, etc. You could set the historical start to 1976, sim 1976 while not affiliating yourself with any franchise and then take over during the 1976 playoffs which would put you in charge to handle everything Mariners related from the very start of the franchise. I've done this with a Mariners sim before.

That's how I start with the 62 Mets

Yes, but in a game that allows for so much accuracy, doing expansions that way is inaccurate because you don't end up with the correct free agents or the correct rosters as of the date of the draft.

I know it's nit-picky, but I would like to be able to start at the expansion draft, with as historically accurate rosters and stats as possible and just see if I can draft a better team than the Mariners or Mets, etc. did in real life.

Now you listen to me! This is my last shot at a winner and for some of the younger guys it could be their only shot. I don't know what happened to you. But if you ever, ever tank another play like you did today, I'm gonna cut your nuts off and stuff em down your f***** throat! - Jake Taylor, Major League

If, when you start your game the year before you jump in, you enable historical transactions (and use other 'replay' setting such as no trades) you should end up with pretty accurate rosters by the time you take over the Mariners, etc., and at that point you can turn off historical transactions...

You can and that is an option. However I want the actual results of the prior season to base drafting decisions on.
Then i want recalc going forward based on the year I just play and dev on.

Not nit picky. This is exactly how i want to play. Been asked for, for many years. No sim the prior year

I agree the timing of taking over a franchise in game is unrealistic. No GM is hired the day before Opening Day, hopefully taking over a franchise/starting a historical save can be user selected in the future, or at least provided a range of available dates.
