Expanded WBC
Inspired by the outstanding work in this thread, I have decided to attempt an expanded version of the WBC and was hoping one or more of you graphics gurus would be interested in creating a few more sets (wordmark logos / home away) along the same lines. I'm sure they'd be popular.
I was thinking the following countries but am at your discretion:
As I said, whatever I get I'll be happy with (Australia is my main priority) and I offer my appreciation in advance for any work done. G

Thanks for the kind words and the spotlight luckymannt! My goal for my thread is to have all WBC teams represented and several more on top of that.
This is a great community, and I am excited to see what amazing creations everyone has to this project. |

Team color reference guide!
I'm very close to the color codes but damn, being such a stickler for having my work as close as accurate as possible, why didn't I find this website sooner?!
Anyway, it's a new resource for me and if anyone else is looking to do work on the WBC, definitely look up this link. https://www.trucolor.net/portfolio/w...rough-present/ NOTE: THESE ARE NOT ACCURATE TO UNIFORM COLOR CODES. THEY WILL NOT MATCH CORRECLTY TO UNIFORM COLORS. Last edited by Trek2300; 04-04-2025 at 10:29 AM. |

That sight is for paint codes. Doesn't always match the official team color.

I only post this to show how this site is created as a resource guide and not associated with any kind of "paint" store. The owner of the site has written the following,
"After trying and trying to come up with a new brand (I really wanted TriTone, but it just didn’t work, and could have caused issues with Pantone), my wife Amy suggested TruColor, and we both felt that it works on a number of different levels. My historical color research is to try find and catalogue all “true” color values for every team and school, and my ‘Pantone Digital Standards’ projects are intended to display the “true” colors as well." "As well as being the founder of TruColor (formerly ColorWerx and The Society for Sports Uniforms Research), I am also a database developer and run a software development and consulting business with my wife Amy. The company is called Ethx. I have been interested in logos and uniforms since the early '70s, and am especially interested in team colors, including color science" So please forgive me in my excitement that I had found a resource that I originally thought could be usable. I know we are all looking for ways to help in our creative process and I am the type to want to share with everyone ideas, tools, programs and sites with all the amazing members of this forum. I believe we are at our best when we exchange ideas to encourage our fellow artists, promote each other, and help one another to achieve all of our creative expressions that are worthy of enjoyment from all of us here on these maginficent forums. As the proverb says, "A rising tide lifts all boats." https://www.trucolor.net/introducing-trucolor-net/ Last edited by Trek2300; 04-04-2025 at 11:16 AM. |

No, its ok. Sorry to dampen your spirit. You just seem awful detail oriented..I can identify with that. I used to do a lot of Madden mods 20 years ago and I stumbled across the sight. You could just visually tell that the shades didn't match. There are several MLB teams that he has as the same shade of red..the exact same RGB, but any look at the jerseys would make a reasonable person raise their eyebrows to that. They are close, just not right on...
Here's the Phillies...left Colorwerx...right official team RGB

He actually showed up in a thread and had me somewhat convinced that my eyes were off and the emperor was wearing clothes. Until the teams started e-mailing me back with their official RGB codes. By all means, keep using it...they aren't that far off, within a margin of error I suppose. Not a big deal really.

This might explain it. What I think it is saying is that even though his pantone codes are correct, they do not translate to an accurate RGB color swatch.

I think something is getting lost here. As soon as you pointed out that the color codes do not match, I agreed and corrected my post. Also adding disclaimers about the links on both this thread and to the thread where I started contributing Uniforms for the WBC. (Where I stated that I will try to be as accurate as possible and add some creative license as well.)
I only added context to explain my INTENT and not to refute what you were saying. I originally posted that link in good faith. I am one to never set in stone what could be corrected or changed with new information or proper guidance from others more intelligent or experienced in a subject than I am. I had immediately deferred to your pointing out the inaccuracy of the color codes from the get-go. I appreciate the links on the back and forth about color codes. That was cool and insightful to read and learn. I enjoy conversations like that which teach me something more. To close, I completely agree with you and respect your knowledge and history and did so from the initial response by you. I hope you are not trying to convince me because you have already. I do appreciate the kindred spirit that you share. Us of a high detailed lot can be our own worst enemies. I have made sets before using color codes from the many sites available and sometimes they look wrong. And using the "wrong codes" from color grab tools in paint.net, photoshop etc. provide a better reference than any "official" code. I heard an expression, and it definitely shines true here with these color codes on how they sometimes don't match right. "Don't make perfect the enemy of good." Sometimes a good-looking match is done by trial and error and instinctive feel, not perfect adherence to outside parameters. If it looks good, then you know you did it right. Thank you again Khephren |
