Variant Cards Question
I am guessing that variant cards rated 40s,50s,60,70s and probably 80s are mainly only good for tournaments?.I dont see how you could get to Gold or better with them in the regular game or am i missing something. Thanks

They're almost strictly for tournaments, same as any other lower-rated card.

I would say they are mostly used for tournaments, but some especially at the diamond level (and even at gold like Kenny Lofton) are playable all the way up to PeL level.

It all depends on the card in question. A Variant 83 Jackie Robinson or 89 Kenny Lofton is already better than most of the original Diamond cards without the variant boost.

the 83 jackie can not be a variant, it is a mission card. but the lofton is amazing (and very underrated)

You're right of course. I'm using non-variant of both and they hold up.
