Guru events don't work on my account, why is that?

In my OOTP 22 save file, I saw that the player's stats didn't change when the Guru event succeeded, and I thought, “Oh, this must be a bad save file.” However, when I moved on to OOTP 25 and saw that the Guru event still didn't change the player's stats, I started to wonder if this was a problem with my account.

What can I do to get guru events to work?

What rating scale are you using?

What outcome are you getting from that storyline? I do not believe all outcomes would result in a rating change.
