I was competing in HD for 3 seasons, reached the playoff as the last wildcard seed the first two seasons. The third season I was doing great, then I hit a bad slump in the 2nd half and fell to LD last season. Started off exceptional last season in LD, then hit a really bad slump in the last 2 months of the season. This season? I was 12 games over .500 coming into mid June. Then between late June and through all of July I slumped so hard.
Look at this craziness, 11 game losing streak to end the month, playing teams that are starting Matt Kilroy, Dave Stieb. One of these two opposing teams was under .500, one was just over .500 at the start of this stretch. Now I'm sitting at 50-54 and probably going to miss the playoffs. My starting pitching from from 4th- to 13th-ranked in that stretch.
I will say that the opposition in those last 11-games did pick up a couple of players in the new drops today, and no doubt that helped them, but so many bad dice rolls on good pitchers of mine (including Sutcliffe and Sheets starting 2-3 times each). Keep in mind the top-4 players in my lineup are all STILL all hitting over .300 this season (Dave Parker has been playing out of his mind at .328 and 16 HR), my OPS still 2nd in the league even after the slump. Can't believe how poorly today rolled for me.
And not just today, but this is the third straight season my team has fallen apart in the 2nd half after a good start. SMH.
