How do you manage your historic replays?

Just wanted to ask how you guys all like playing your historical replay seasons? I've always played the current season as GM/Manager, but after getting into tabletop Strat-o-matic I've been interested in using OOTP to also play the historic replay seasons. A big question--how accurate do you find the results from the older seasons (ie, are the 1930 results as accurate as the 1984 results, or the 2022 results)?

The way I'm leaning into it is to use historic lineups (so I can't over-favor guys I know will be good) but I'm setting my own batting orders, choosing my own relievers, etc.

I'm currently replaying every game (as my chosen team) on one-pitch mode in 3d when I play on my desktop, but on my laptop I sometimes mix it up and play in 2d mode as well.

How do you do your historic replays? Do you play all the teams? Just one? What do you do for lineups and batting orders?

When doing a Replay Mode, Real Transactions/Real Line-ups game, the only default that I still need to turn off is the Coaching. It defaults ON for some reason in that mode. It is under Game Settings>Global Settings, lower left.

I think everything from 1901 forward is running the best I've ever seen it. I could nit-pick that, if only Babe hit 2 more HR per season, he'd clear 700 more consistently. Or if only the AI used the bullpen as I would or utilized real-life closers more often, that'd be nice. At the end of select careers, check their stat lines by measure and the slash lines. I think they'll be right in-line regardless of era.

Play as Lansdownest suggests if you want it to mirror real life. I like to use neutralize stats. Or sometimes I use IRL stats and neutralize park factors.
For extreme accuracy use Real Transaction/Real Lineup but I like to play more in a GM mode where I can build my team, trade my players.

Using 1 yr recalc I think it is as accurate or more than Strat. Especially on the defensive side. But it has been over 15 years since I played Strat.

There is a little bit of a learning curve but the forum is very helpful. The manual isn't available yet for this version but you can google an older one "OOTP 24 Manual".

Would like your opinion after you play a season or 2.

A lot of manual work before 1901... after real line up, real transaction and because I'm over the top I only put the rookies available for a team when they played their real life first game.

I only play one team (the Expos of course), but I let the AI run all the team from 1871 to 1968 to have a complete "fictional" history. When 69 start I play all my team game because I like watching the game (I just control the in game substitution and let the AI do what it wants on the field).

Edit: I use one year recalculation to have result more in line with the players real life season...

Thanks all! I don't do much thinking about pre-1900 baseball history, but good to know that the stats aren't as clean back then.

I didn't realize about the coaching! I'm currently playing a real line/real transaction 1947 Dodgers and 1984 Padres game and it's probably too late for me, but hopefully it won't have much impact.

It'll probably take me a while to get through a whole season since I'm managing every game, but I'll try to come back and share by thoughts (and key season stats vs real life) when I'm done.

Roster not accurate

I started playing a 2023 historical replay as the Dodgers, and I noticed that Bickford and Almonte are not on the roster, while the actual boxscore has both of those relievers. I know that inserting relievers is the manager's responsibility, but why are these 2 players not on the roster for game 1?
