Is there any hope?

Our original commissioner has disappeared off the face of the earth and I have decided to try to resurect our league (taking over as acting commish). Is there any way to reset the league password without knowing the original?

One of our other owners sent the file to someone who was able to hack the password out, but there are many screens that crash when accessing them. I only point this out because our intention in hacking out the password was just to get to the point where we could export the rosters and reimport them into a new "password free" league file. Export works just fine, problem is the import crashes every time. I think this may be due to expansion and realignment. Several teams were moved when expansion happened last season and I think this may be what causes the import to crash. Can anyone lend any insight on ways to get this thing back off the ground ?

Thanks in advance !

I am not aware of a way to reset the password w/o the original. What screens crash? If someone "hacked" the original file and you are still using it then it maybe that the file is corrupted now. How many seasons into the league are you? Have you considered just starting over?

Steve,

Thanks for the response. Some (not all - and I haven't discovered a pattern) of the roster screens and lineup screens crash with the password hacked file. But if I close the file and open it again, those same screens might not crash and others start. My hope in getting the hacked file was that I could export all the players and the teams that they are on in the league setup screen. I can do just that (exporting into four different csv files), but once I create a new custom league with the proper division/team structure I can't import those csv files.

I am certain that the hacked file is corrupted, I just hoped that it wasn't screwed up to the point where I couldn't export/import it's rosters.

We are entering our fourth season, and as much as I hate to do so, we may just have to start over.

Try using this instead to import the team/players to a new league:

Thanks for the link, but I actually had found that already. I get an access violation at address 00434106 in module 'OOTP5Import.exe'. Read of address 00000008.

I happens sometime when I select the import from team and sometimes when I select the import to team.

Yeah, I did that and it didn't help..........BUT after creating a new league file (to import into) it finally worked. The import program finally worked and imported the players into the respective team files, unfortunately no ratings carried over. I then imported from csv (inside the league setup menu in game) and the import said it was successful, but the ratings were still not there. I am making progress at least now, but it looks like it is going to take some more work. Thanks for your help Steve !!! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply !!!!

Does the league use Coaches? If not make sure the new league file has coaches off. This may be the reson no ratings are showing up.

Yes the old (and new) league does use coaches. Should I turn them off before importing anyway?

Check the new file to see if the coaches were imported with the teams. I am guessing that the teams on the new file do not have any coaches assigned. This is probably why you don't see any ratings. If I am wrong then I don't really know what the problem is.

I feel kinda silly for not realizing it myself, but you were absolutely right. No coaches were imported so I will have to manually enter them, but it looks like the rosters and ratings were all imported successfully. I forgot to look at the contracts to see if they were also imported correctly, but I will look when I get home this afternoon. Thanks for the help guys !!!
