Slow in-game
Hi,
Whenever I try to play a game out, it takes an incredibly long time. After I click on my strategy (swing away, steal, etc), it takes about 1 to 2 minutes to start the pbp. Once the pbp starts, it takes about 2 minutes to finish. Finally, when the pbp stops, it takes about 1 - 2 minutes to get the next strategy to display, and I am able to click on it. I thought maybe that this was due to the rosters I was using (Total minors), or that it was due to the photos that I was using. I created an entirely new and seperate league, with fictional rosters and no photos, and the same problem is there. The simming is fine, it is at the regular pace. The in game though, used to be fast, and is now slow. A possibly related problem, is that I can no longer start OOTP5 twice, I have to reboot the computer in between starting up OOTP. If I try to start it up a second time, I get an error that says "OOTP5 has encountered an error in <unkown>", and then the computer freezes. Another possibly related problem, is that in the top right corner, where the league name is usually displayed, is displaying the league name of one of my old leagues. I ran a virus scan (which actually revealed a trojan, got rid of it, and is still slow), and a spyware scan (and got rid of all the spyware); to no avail. I have an AMD Athlon 800 mhz, with 192 mb of RAM. I am currently running OOTP 5.12, but had the same problems with 5.11. Once again, this hasn't always happened, it used to be fast and enjoyable. I played 1.5 innings yesterday in about 25 minutes. Any light anybody can shed on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

What OS are you running? Are you using "in game sound"? Are any other programs running at the time?

I am running Windows ME, I have in-game sound on, and there are only 3 programs running at the time (explorer, systray, and ootp).
I just gave it a shot with the sound off, and it has sped up now. Thank you very much Steve, I would have never thought of the sound... |
