Strikeout Bug on the Player Development Screen

With 5.11 and apparently with 5.12 as well, players will receive two talent bumps for K's or Avoiding K's on many occasions. Can be problematic if you are playing in an era where there aren't a great many strikeouts and players are developing brilliant talents in this area after simming a few years.

Haven't ever seen another talent receive two bumps in one sitting which leads me to believe this is a bug and has been overlooked if still present in 5.12.

I mentioned it in the beta forum.

Don't know if the double increase per se is a bug. The first beta builds had double increases and decreases at other talents and I remember this being talked, but more along the lines of the extravaganza needing to be piped down for it was happening way too much. The double increase at whiffs is still showing up too often, that's for sure.

I think the doubling only happens with Ks, which would seem like a bug to me.

Well, in that case Markus might have deleted the double increase/decrease and somehow the whiffs stayed. I thought he kept them to show up occasionally.

In my experience, this is the gospel. I check the player development screen each week in all the leagues I sim and have yet to see it happen with any other talent.

As I posted in beta, it also causes some oddities in reduced-rating leagues. I had a pitcher drop in talent in all 3 reduced ratings and the non-existent (in these leagues at least) Getting K's talent once.
