No solution? msvcrt.dll

I actually have STB and everytime I try to import a historical team, I get a crash with an error in msvcrt.dll. I know this has been discussed before, but I haven't found a solution. I got the 1.3 patch and it didnt solve the prob. what else can I try?

AMD Athlon XP 1900+
512MB
Windows Me

Have you tried unuinstalling the game and reinstalling? The same with the database?

I have tried both, neither has worked. I also tried it on another computer, Intel P3 1.7GHz, 512mb, Windows 2k Pro, nVidia GeForce2 MX. And odd enough, I got the same error! I got the error with and without the 1.3 patch.

Are you following these guidelines?

Are you certain you are using the "generic or comma-delimited" database?

Also, v5 of the database won't work with that version of the game. You may also try d/l the latest SP for windows2000 and see if that helps.

I am trying to do the Historic League import. I want to import all players for a specific year.I am using version 4.5 of the Lahman database in .csv (comma delimited format). Both machines are fully updated with Micosofts newest SPs.

STB. does this function even work at all? I have now tried it on a third computer.... an P133, with 80MB, and Windows 98 and I get the same error! both with and without patch 1.3!

I think you need to have version 4.0 of the Lahman Database for the original STB. I know the function works, as I imported every year out of the Lahman DB for STB 1.3, and I'm almost positive that I had to use the 4.0 version, not the 4.5

Give that a try.

hmm thats a good idea. But where can I find a .csv version of the 4.0? I can only find a 4.0 in access97 format. thanks!

well, made my own .csv file (exported the .mdb out of access) and it worked...sort of......it gets to the end of the import process and when it should say "import done", I get the msvcrt.dll error message again. The files seem to be created, but when I try to use the league, stb.exe crashes with an error in msvcrt.dll. it did this on both the win2k box and winme box.

We have Success! after uninstalling and reinstalling STB then using the Lahman DB 4.0, I got it to work. Great game! Im having a lot of fun. Thanks Steve and Eriqjaffe, I apporeciate all of your assistance.....now if I could just get this 1929 Cubs pitching staff to come around.....
