Runtime when proceeding to next season

I've found other threads about runtime errors that suggest reinstalling the game. I'll probably end up doing that, but thought I'd post this here.

After clicking the button to Proceed to Next Season, the game generates all of the reports. After it generates the team reports, the box says "Proceeding to Next Season" for a few seconds and then I get the dreaded "Runtime Error" that causes the termination of the program.

Any other suggestions or do I have to reinstall the game?

I'm not aware of any other issues, do you have enough free HD space?

Yep, I have plenty of space available, so that isn't a problem. This is the first time I've ever run into this when proceeding to the next season. Since it's our online league, I'm a little concerned.

Well, a reinstall didn't fix the problem. It must be something with the league file, but I don't know what it could be. I haven't done anything different from any other season that I've Proceeded. Any ideas?

Okay, just a couple suggestions. First, is it possible that any of the teams have more than 25 players on their roster. Second, are there any missing files or folders? Double check, just to be sure, because it is possible.

I just checked all our teams number of players and the only oddity is Detroit has a 24 man team instead of 25. I have no idea if that makes a difference.

I have also tried to proceed to the next season and I get the exact same results "run time error" after generating team reports.

What version of the game are both of you running?

I am running OOTP 5.12

I went ahead and turned all teams over to computer control and run automanage on every team. It fixed the Detroit 24 man roster and it even teased me by "proceeding to next season" for a much longer time before the runtime error appeared.

It might. Is there some way you can test this to see if adding one player to Detroit solves the problem?

I have the following folders: Almanac, Expimp, League News, Logos, Messages, and Photos.

I have the following files: coaches, draft, league, Managers, messages, park, parkconfig, players, promos, records, retired, schedule, special, Spring, story, teams, teams2, Teams3, trade, weather

All of the files and folders are within our main league file. An oddity that I notice is that not all the files are capitalized or lower cased they seem to be random. I don't know if that makes a bit of difference though.

Yeah, you have all the files necessary. I actually left one or two out of my list... my bad. The capitalization does not matter. I also noticed you said you had a League News folder, but you should have one called League_News_Box. Do you have that one?

We have a college league that we run and I just proceeded to the next season without any problems, so this, along with sporr's reloading the game seems to nail the problem down to within the Maelstrom league file. Somewhere.

Yeah, there's probably a corrupt league file. I'm not sure what to do about that. Sorry.

Well it seems the Cubs owner in our league Alex Capporicci solved our dilemma.

After giving him the password so he could look the league over and try some different things, he eventually came back and told me that the start date in our schedule was set at January 1st instead of April when it should be set for. He tested the league several time as did I and it seems to be working now.

I kinda remember we had a problem with the start date before and for some reason its back to January 1st. Very odd but fixed i hope.
