When I create a new historic league (per instructions in the manual)I get an error message after hitting the import button; "Could not create folder !" I've downloaded and redownloaded v4 of the database, extracted it to various folders and made sure my pathing is correct. I can connect to the database via the free agent screen and import an individual player. Do I need to setup the league structure and teams? I thought this was automated with the DB?
Possible problem; I have my HDD divided into partitions with Windows on a seperate partition from my program files. When I installed the game [as is common for all programs] it suggested an installation to the partiition with windows on it. I changed it to where I wanted it and I am wondering if perhaps this is causing the pathing problem. Even though I have the right source, maybe the route is messed up cause of where I installed it. The program runs fine otherwise. Win 98 (fully updated) 35g + free disk space 512 MB 1.4 Athlon DX8.1 or whatever is the latest |

The routing potentially could be the problem (I'm not a computer expert so I wouldn't reall know). I assume that you grabbed the generic (.csv) or resorted (from IatricSB) versions of the database so that isn't the problem...
Which partition is the database on? Is it the same as the OOTP partition? |

I've tried both and yes the db is on the same partition w/ OOTP. I don't really want to re-install and use a license incase this isn't the problem. Plus I'd like to keep things setup the way they are.
Heh, the boards sure got quiet all of a sudden. I wonder why that is? lol |

If you do uninstall, you should be able to unliscence the game, then reliscence it when you reinstall, without a problem. Or if you just do it without unliscencing the game and run into a problem you can call Via Tech, they are normally very good at helping you out and they will restore the liscence.
Hopefully a smarter person than I will come along and help you better..

It appears I was right about the pathing problem. I know I'm a little wierd about keeping things separated like that, but I'm not the only one. Anyway, I uninstalled and re-installed [automatically recovered the original licence, nice!] to the default path and had no problems importing from the database.
One question though, do I need to create the league structure and move the players to their teams? Do I have to do this every year if I play career? |

hmm, after playing around with things awhile there is an alternate possibility for the error message. It might be the product of trying to create a new league file with the same name as an existing one, i.e. it doesn't overwrite, but rather returns the error message. This might be it. FYI
