Why am I not getting contract extension messages in Online League

I have patched with 1.0.2. I am set as the GM of all teams and am in commissioner mode. I am also set to receive all league messages. When I offer contract extensions for the other GM's in my league and myself for that matter, I do not get any response from the players, even though I am giving them what they want. What am I doing wrong? Please respond ASAP. Thanks.

redsfan,

Sorry this took a while for me to get to.

First off, as commissioner, you will never get responses intended for other GMs delivered to your own in-box. Even as commissioner, I do not believe there is a way for you to view other GM's personal messages.

In OOTPB 2006, contract extensions are typically handled by the GMs themselves. When you import their teams, their contract extensions will come through automatically.

Or, are you doing a league where the GMs don't actually have the software?

Regarding you and your own messages, are you actually signed on as the GM of a certain team? Or are you using the "Act As" drop-down? You must actually be the GM of the team in order to receive messages. To do this, use the Available Jobs screen to sign on with the team you wish to manage.

I'm not sure this will answer all of your questions, but please let me know!

I am a GM of one of the teams.

No other member of the league has '06. Should I turn off the Online League option? Will that make it work?

I would suggest this:

1. Wait for the next work-in-progress patch due out today, and install it.

2. Open your game

3. Go to Game --> Game Setup

4. Click on the League Setup tab

5. Click on the Other Functions action menu (lower right) and select "Set all teams to being controlled by <your manager identity>"

I believe this will accomplish what you want.

Honestly, I would urge you to create a test league first, and test it out until you're sure it's doing what you want. You don't want to mess up your league.

Always back up your league files regularly!

I hope this helps! Let me know.

Should I still turn off online league mode? I tried what you suggested (setting me to control all teams) about 2 weeks ago with no success.

I don't think online league mode has anything to do with it. But, with a patch due out today, I think I'd like to see how the control all teams works for you once the game has been patched.

Let me know, thanks!

Out of curiosity, when I set myself as the GM of all teams, do I need to use the "act as" feature in order to do things like offer extensions and what not? When I just right-click on the player of any team (other than my original team), I don't get the option to offer an extension.

Yeah, you need to set yourself to 'act as', as previously. Bit of a pain, that.

Just FYI, I'm going to attempt to champion improving the model for the "control all" players in 2007. FWIW.

We have a rule that states that Tech Support threads wherein we have not received a response within 7 days will be closed.

This one meets this criteria, so I'm closing this.

If you want to discuss it again, just PM me with the thread link, and I'll re-open. (Don't just say "Hey, reopen my thread." I need to know the URL, thanks!)
