Crash Recovery
Having serious problems with crash recovery.
First, I know the crashes are my fault. They only happen when the computer has been extremely overworked, and, most of the time, it is another program that brings down the system. But my OOTP problem is that quite frequently when those crashes occur, the game will not completely reload on restart. It will get to 100%, verifying databases, and lockup. And most of the times when that happens, overwriting the game files with the backup files will not fix the problem. The only thing that works is to overwrite with the full backup of the entire .lg directory. Bottom line, I've replayed the Winter meetings 1980 about five times. I'm running XP with updates on a Turion64 processor with about 5G of free hard drive space and over a G of RAM. I have the latest upgrade, haven't tried the beta. Please don't tell me to quit multitasking. I play this for stress reduction, but have to reduce from within the stress-causing agents. |

Only 5 gigs of HD left? That isn't much. Try to defrag. Have you looked into buying some RAM as well? DDR2 is cheap lately.

I've seen someone else post around here that microsoft suggests a certain percentage of your HD be free space for stability. It could be the issue.
