Available draft funds drop to zero when over budget even when draft budget is the reason
Perhaps not a bug, more like an inconsistency. For one thing, in general I find that the Total Money Available changes drastically from one day to the next on certain days of the year, which can be very problematic, but I need to do more research to figure out why that is happening.
So putting that aside for now, the specific issue that has been driving me crazy is this: I set a draft budget, which presumably is taken into account in the Total Money Available. Then, after the draft is completed, suddenly my Total Money Available went from positive to negative. I don't have the details from before the draft, so I'm not sure, but it seems like the Draft Budget was suddenly added to Allocated Budget Space. But what really annoys me is that my draft budget essentially drops to zero, even though I won't need all of it anyway. The four players I need to negotiate with will total something like $228,000 (1987 financials), but my draft budget was $750,000 (if I set it much lower, the Owner adjusts it back up anyway). I'm only $490,000 over budget (and my available money is actually only negative by $20,000 because of $470,000 leftover cash). So instead of adjusting the Total Money Available by $750,000, it really would make a lot more sense if the amount available to offer draftees was set to what I have left over when the draft budget is NOT included. I should be able to offer $260,000 to my draftees, which would be no problem. But instead, now I can't even offer them what they are demanding because in some cases it is over the slot amount, which the Owner won't allow when I'm "over budget". So I'm going to lose half these players when they reject my offer. And then the day after draft negotiations are over, I'll suddenly have plenty of money again, more than enough to have signed the players I lost. |

Yeah, I think I see the problem. These draft budgets have been a real pain.

One interesting follow up you should also be aware of. On the last day allowed for draft negotiations, suddenly the unused portion of the draft budget gets added back into available money and everybody can be signed. This seems to be happening one day earlier than it should, as negotiations are not concluded (although right now it is a workaround I can use for signing everybody I should be able to sign based on the correct amount of available money). I'm not sure this is calculating the available money correctly either, I forgot to screenshot it when it happened, but it is definitely increasing.
